M53
The globular star cluster M53 in the constellation of Coma Berenicess is a distant object, as its distance is estimated to be almost 60,000 light-years. Although it is listed in Messier's catalog, it was discovered as early as 1775 by Johann Elert Bode, who described it as a round nebula. Charles Messier rediscovered it two years later and included it in his catalog. In small telescopes, it appears as just a hazy cloud. Only in telescopes larger than 10 inches can the center of the globular cluster be well distinguished into individual stars.
In May, the nights are already very short, so globular star clusters also come to the fore. I sacrificed almost two whole nights to this one. Unfortunately, there is no astronomical night at all during this period.
